Family & Education
Emmanuel speaks Chichewa and is learning to speak English. In Malawi, English is taught in government primary schools as a second language, helping children become bilingual. Emmanuel is doing well in Family & Education
Hazel lives with her nephew, Mike Gama, who is a subsistence farmer supporting a family of six. When both of Hazel’s parents passed away, Mike selflessly agreed to take her in and provide care and support.
Hazel is currently in the fifth grade and attends the Central Church of Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Primary School. She is growing in her ability to read and write in Chichewa and continues to develop her English language skills as she becomes bilingual. Hazel is performing well academically and enjoys playing netball with her friends.
Physical Health
Hazel received a brief medical and psychological evaluation during this visit and was found to be healthy, well-adjusted, and socially interactive. There is currently no known immunization record for Hazel, and she may require routine childhood vaccinations in the future.
Spiritual Health & Prayer Requests
Mr. Gama and his family, along with Hazel, are active members of Mzuzu Baptist Church. Hazel is growing in her relationship with Jesus Christ. Her favorite Bible verse is Genesis 1:1 — “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Please join us in praying that Hazel will receive a regular sponsor to help provide nutritious meals, clothing, school supplies, and the required school uniform. Pray that she will continue to thrive academically and spiritually, deepening her understanding of God’s love and coming to know Jesus Christ personally at an early age.
October 2025 Visit Report
In October 2025, Agape Evangelical Ministries traveled with a small team to Mzuzu City, Malawi (Southeast Africa) on October 8, 2025. We thank God for the opportunity to meet with each child and their caregivers, in partnership with Mzuzu Baptist Church, which continues to protect and nurture children who have lost one or both parents by keeping them in loving, faith-filled homes.
Hazel is a beautiful and joyful seven-year-old girl being cared for by her stepmother Elizah Gama and nephew Mike Gama, who were both present during our visit. She enjoyed coloring with the other children and was delighted to receive a new dress, underwear, tennis shoes, and socks.
