Family & Education
Emmanuel speaks Chichewa and is learning to speak English. In Malawi, English is taught in government primary schools as a second language, helping children become bilingual. Emmanuel is doing well in most of his subjects but has some difficulty with mathematics.
Physical Health
Emmanuel is in overall good health. He experienced mild Achilles tendon pain, which was found to be due to a growth spurt and playing soccer (known locally as football) without proper shoes. His physical examination was otherwise normal. Emmanuel also had some minor hearing difficulty caused by earwax buildup, which is now being treated.
Spiritual Health & Prayer Requests
Mr. Banda and Emmanuel are both members of Mzuzu Baptist Church. When asked about his favorite Bible story, Emmanuel said he enjoys the story of David and Goliath.
Please pray that God will raise up a child sponsor for Emmanuel. With just $40 a month, he would receive nutritious food, clothing, school supplies, a required school uniform, and medical care as needed.
Pray that Emmanuel will overcome his challenges with mathematics and continue to do well in all his subjects. Pray that he will be a good listener, obey his stepfather, and come to receive Jesus Christ into his heart—growing into a devoted follower of Christ.
October 2025 Visit Report
In October 2025, Agape Evangelical Ministries traveled with a small team to Mzuzu City, Malawi (Southeast Africa). The visit took place on October 8, 2025, in partnership with Mzuzu Baptist Church, which is actively supporting and protecting children who have lost one or both parents. The church’s mission is to raise these children within a loving Christian community, nurturing them as faithful Malawian believers.
Emmanuel Banda was introduced to us during this visit as a new child in need of support. He has lost both of his parents and is now being cared for by his stepfather, Lameck Banda. Emmanuel is a shy and quiet 12-year-old boy who enjoyed spending time with the other children, listening to stories, and coloring. He was especially excited to receive new tennis shoes, socks, underwear, and pants during our visit.
