Family & Education
The name Vitumbiko means “Blessings” in the Tumbuka language, a Bantu language spoken in both Malawi and Zambia. It is a name given to celebrate the joy of a child’s arrival. Vitumbiko belongs to the Tumbuka tribe and speaks both Tumbuka and Chichewa.
She lives with her mother, who has faced great hardship since the passing of her husband. Without steady employment or resources, she struggles to provide for herself and her daughter. Despite these challenges, she remains devoted to her family and faith.
Vitumbiko attends Masasa Primary School, a local government school, where she is currently in the second grade.
Physical Health
Vitumbiko is in overall good health but was noted to be slightly anemic. During our visit, she received children’s multivitamins along with the other Agape Evangelical children to help support her nutrition and growth.
Spiritual Health & Prayer Requests
Grace Ngambi and Vitumbiko Phiri are members of Mzuzu Baptist Church, where Vitumbiko is learning about Jesus Christ. Please pray that she will continue to grow in her faith and come to know Christ personally at a young age.
Pray that God will raise up a child sponsor for Vitumbiko—someone who will help provide nutritious meals, clothing, and other essentials for her and her mother as they navigate life in one of the poorest regions of the world.
Please also pray that Vitumbiko will excel in school, grow in confidence, and deepen her understanding of God’s love through Jesus Christ.
October 2025 Visit Report
In October 2025, Agape Evangelical Ministries traveled with a small team to Mzuzu City, Malawi (Southeast Africa) on October 8, 2025. We praise God for the opportunity to visit each child and their caregivers in partnership with Mzuzu Baptist Church. The church continues to provide spiritual and emotional support to orphans and vulnerable children, helping raise them as godly young leaders who love the Lord.
During our visit, we met Vitumbiko Phiri, a quiet and shy six-year-old girl who enjoyed coloring for the first time and participating in group activities. She was overjoyed to receive a new dress, underwear, tennis shoes, and socks. Both she and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Agape Evangelical Ministries and our ministry partners for their love and generosity..
