Family & Education

Chimwemwe Rajab lives with her aunt, Joice Sugar, and her uncle, Honane Mwali, who are caring for her. Malawi’s social service system is fragile and primarily seeks to place children with extended family members if they can be located and are willing to care for them.

Honane Mwali is a subsistence farmer who plants and harvests his own crops, providing for his family from what he is able to grow. Chimwemwe attends Lwananatonga Primary School and is currently in the fourth grade. She enjoys playing netball, and her favorite subject in school is English.

Physical Health

We are grateful that Chimwemwe is in good health. Her uncle mentioned that she had been experiencing some hearing difficulties, which were found to be due to impacted earwax and are now being treated. She also had a mild case of tinea corporis (a skin condition) and was prescribed medication expected to resolve it easily.

Unfortunately, immunizations for all the Agape Evangelical children were unavailable during this visit and will need to be obtained in the future.

Spiritual Health & Prayer Requests

The Mwali family are active members of Mzuzu Baptist Church, where Chimwemwe is growing in her understanding and love of Jesus Christ. Please pray for Chimwemwe to continue doing well in school and to strengthen her English skills. Pray that she will come to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age.

October 2025 Visit Report

In October 2025, Agape Evangelical Ministries traveled with a small team to Mzuzu City, Malawi, in Southeast Africa. The team visited on October 8, 2025, and we praise God for the wonderful time spent with each child and their caregiver.

The children gathered for a few hours at Mzuzu Baptist Church, where they played together and enjoyed learning to color with crayons and books — some for the very first time. Chimwemwe received new shoes, socks, underwear, and a dress during this visit.

The name “Chimwemwe” is a Chewa word that means “joy” in English. She belongs to the Tonga tribe and is an 11-year-old girl who lost both of her parents. She now lives with her aunt and uncle in Mzuzu City, where she is being lovingly cared for.
